Power pitchers are baseball pitchers who rely on their high velocity and strong arm to overpower batters. They often throw fastballs in excess of 95 mph, sometimes reaching as high as 100 mph. Power pitchers usually have a tall, strong, and athletic frame, allowing them to generate the necessary velocity for their pitches.
Due to their high velocity pitches, power pitchers can strike out a lot of batters, but they may also have higher rates of walks and hit batters, as their pitches can be more difficult to control.
Some notable power pitchers in baseball history include Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, and Aroldis Chapman.
